K-jet throttle microswitch and fuel lines?? 140-160 1974

I appreciate the previous replies on this one. The lines seem to be okay, so I'll bet my previous fuel leak was an injector seal - they were really shot and I replaced them, then got it running with no leak.

The car, was, however, running rich, based on sooty plug wet with fuel and a tendency not to want to idle (have to apply throttle, then it runs well). Today, it actually backfired through the exhaust and blew up my one working muffler!

So...I took a shim out at the fuel pressure regulator and now it won't really run. The shim was 1.2mm and I understand there are other thicknesses used for adjusting pressure.

1) Am I on the right track?
2) Does anyone know where I can get shims, preferably very thin ones?

Thanks for any help!
