Help - Brakes - Hard Pulling & Parts ('58 444) 444-544

Hello all. As you might already know (from previous posts) that the Old Lady (58 444) is in the shop getting some last minute TLC before Saturday, so that the fiancee and I can drive off into the sunset after our marriage.

Now the bad news. It seems that the garage has wrapped everything up and took her for a test spin. The brakes are not doing good. The way Mark described it to me (and he's going to send me an e-mail later with the details - which I'll post to the group) is that he thinks the self-adjusting mechanisms are shot and need to be replaced. He said that they're grabbing the brakes in the front too hard. He also thinks a spacer or something is missing. He also told me that his mechanic (Jason) tried disabling the adjusters which didn't seem to help.

Anyway, as there are only three or four days left to complete the work before the wedding, I wanted to give you guys a heads-up in advance as I am no specialist with these brakes or self-adjusters and I will need your help.

If brake parts are available, this might be a quicker route to take than to try to repair what's wrong at this point.

I know this isn't much information, but until I get Mark's detailed write-up, it's all I've got to go on at this point.

If anyone has thoughts or suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Tony
