No match for the Healy 140-160

So, I'm driving down the Taconic Pkwy. in NY. It is a somewhat twisty undulating, scenic mostly two lane parkway built in the 50's. Up ahead of me I see a Jensen-Healy get on and he is moving at a "sporting" rate. I try to catch up in my 140 to get a better look and wave "Hi". I guess he saw me gaining and started to take off. You could hear the wonderful"Blat" from his exhaust. So naturally I took chase.
I was trying, (while still staying prudent), maybe I got up to 75-80 mph. I started to get close, but he could just pull away at will. Whenever I closed the gap, you could hear his exhaust and he just plain pulled away.
Wish I had a better answer, but after about 5 or 10 miles, (untill my exit) he plain old outclassed me.
It was fun though, best part of my day.
