Tranny Problems? 200 1990

It’s a 1990 sedan automatic with apx 200K on it and recently it has started acting like the “clutch” is worn out. It seems to want to really race before it will shift into the next gear. When it does shift it kinda slams in.
Last week I checked the ATF and it’s at a good level. When I first got the car about four years ago I changed it over to synthetic ATF and this is the first time I’ve had any tranny problems.
Any ideas on what the problem is?
