1991 240 Wagon. Water has been getting in the back of the car, but apparently not related to the tailgate gasket. I have found water in the spare tire well, and in the left front corner of the cargo area compartment. The carpet has been getting quite wet in that whole area. Yesterday it was pouring and I finally saw the water seeping in a horizontal seam in the metal column to the left of the tailgate. It's higher up than the top of the tail-light assembly, so not coming in there. I decided to try the following in this order: antenna seal; left tailgate hinge seal; roof rack seals. There is no sign of dampness in the headliner. So today I removed the antenna, replaced the rectangular rubber seal that fits between the antenna housing and the car with a newer one, replaced the rubber o-ring, and then put a drop of silicone sealant around what they call the nipple because it's cracked, and I am told a replacement can't be found anywhere. Oh, and in case anyone else out there finds this useful, yes, the female part of the antenna assembly that lives on the inside of that column is impossible to hold in place from the outside while re-attaching the outer (male) part of the assembly! It took me way too long to figure out that I could simply pop out that small, round, rubber plug just below the left tailgate strut and use the hole to access the assembly from behind (I used a chopstick), thereby holding the female part in place while I screwed in the outer assembly. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have fixed the problem. It's due to rain again in a couple of days, so I will find out soon enough. Anyone else have experience with leaks in this area? Anyone replaced the hinge seals or roof rack seals?
