Will 1994 940 rear shocks work in a 240

Ordered a set of Monroe air shocks for my 940. The original rear shocks and springs were getting soft. This seemed to be a decent temporary solution until I redo the complete suspension when the front struts go. Unfortunately My 91 240 has the same issues and they no longer produce the air shocks for the 240. Considering the quality of aftermarket shocks these days I thought I would give them a try since they go for only $40 dollars apiece at Advance Auto.
I believe I heard that they could be used but needed to be modified...
