Should I buy a 1990 240 as first car? 200

Hi All,

I'm considering buying a 240 as my first car. My budget to purchase and maintain is limited but my heart is set on a brick. The selling price for these where I live is around 2500 - 4500 depending upon condition, mileage, etc. The one I'm looking at has less than 145,000. I've been reading various postings on this forum to get a sense of the types of things that may need to be fixed in the coming years. Any tips on what specific questions to ask the seller? Due to the location of the car from where I live I may not be able to get it inspected before I purchase. The seller is a repected mechanic. I hate to pester the guy with a ton of questions; I need some help knowing what questions to ask so I know I've done my due diligence before I go through with the purchase.

Thanks!
