Volvo towing another please advise 700 1991

Hi y'all I'd be much obliged for any advise regarding if possible a road trip from los Angeles to Plladelphia with one Volvo 740 GL Wagon towing another 740. on a 2 wheel dolly. The towing car is a 91' GL 740 (Bosh) and has 150.000 miles. The other is a 740 90' Gl (Rex). I plan on getting some IPD overload coils, already have IPD Sway bars. I have owned this for 2 years and have replaced the following - 2 yars ago Radiator, hoses, thermostat ,timming belt, ball joints, brakes, heater valve (2 months ago old), distributer, wires and plugs (1 month old). I plan to change fuel filter , new tires. I have one big fear - reverse takes 2 or 3 seconds to kick in up hill only when hot. (I flush the tranny every year through the radiator return)

My other option is to tow a U-haul trailer and sell the other, but this is cheaper and I will be towing a parts car incase something goes wrong. My Family wife and 2 kids will take Amtrak and I will be driving alone. I know some of you have done this so any advise is much apreciated as I have much to learn. I have a few moths to prepare and am all ears.
Thank you!

Alan
