More questions on tires&rims 120-130

I just had 5 new vredestien 185 hr 15 tires mounted onto the rims that I sent out to be powder coated. The rims are from a '63 vintage wagon, although now they are being run on a '62 2 dr. They are stamped /63 along with a part # 662842. The OD on these tires is 26.25 inches as far as I can tell just laying a tape measure across their width. This is the same as the bias ply spare I have which is a Firestone 5.9-15. In this case the rim is marked/62 with a part # 89991. That is just fyi.

Both rims also have a "S" stamped on them inside of 2 "V"s that lie on their sides and overlay one another so that they look somewhat like 2 colliding Jesus fish.

So far so good, except my old beauty rims will not set snugly against the edges of the newly coated rims as they seem to be too deep at 2". Have ordered some 1 3/4" VW rings to hopefully solve that problem.

Note: All the rims I am talking about are designed to take the early 10" hubcap.

So this is where it gets interesting, to me anyway. The old rims that the sedan sported when it came to live here had 195/65r15 tires on them. These rims are marked /62 with an inverted #2 in front of that and the # 89991, same # as the old spare. Same "S" inside of 2 fish as well. Only thing that is different is the measurement across the width of the rim's OD it is 7 1/16", the ID is about 6". This is much wider than either the stock sedan or wagon rim. They have no sign of having been altered. Any idea of what these are or where they came from?

How bout you planetman, recall adding these to giancarlo's car before he left sunny California?
