Fuel Pump Replacement Questions 700 1992

Ok, I think the fuel pump died on my 1992 740. I purchased a replacement pump for a Regina system from FCP and gave it to my mechanic. The pump I got from FCP was their number 3507736. My mechanic is the mechanics teacher at the school I work at and in no way a Volvo guy so please pardon the questions. Sadly, I am disabled and not able to work on this car myself and am not able to pay for a Volvo mechanic. Regardless, I gave the new fuel pump, new fuel sender unit seal, etc and copies of the article in the 700 FAQ about changing the fuel pump and said have at it. Below is part of an email he sent me today after getting into the fuel tank. Should I send the new pump back to FCP or try to get him to rig up something to make this work? Is there a chance I ordered by accident or got sent a non-Regina fuel pump? How accurate, regarding the connections is the FAQ on the subject? Please give me advise what to do! Time is of the essence as I only have another few days to get him to work on the car than I am screwed until next November. Below is the email.

"...The current pump has 2 wired soldered to it. The new pump has a female receiver plug where the electrical would just simply plug in. In the directions you sent me they make no mention of this. They actually say to solder the wires to the new pump. That's not possible with the arrangement I described above. Other than that the pump looks identical. Is it possible they sent the wrong pump?..."
