Strange miss 900 1994

1994 940T, 215K- Great car with great maintenance and never any issues, until today... Car warmed up, nice sunny 70 degree weather. I get back in it after a 5 minute errand stop and the car sputters; I think it's my imagination, so I get under way, and the car acts like it's running on two cylinders, if that: stumbles, sputters, and does not accelerate above 20 MPH. I pull over in a couple of hundred feet, and open the hood, what else can I do? Take a look, and well, nothing to see, out of the normal that is. I get back in, intending to limp home at 20 MPH but, no, thing is running perfectly, going like it always had... So, any ideas? I hate to have this happen when I am far away from home, and not fix itself, that won't be good... I realize this is long shot of a question...
