Real quick clutch alignment tool question.. 140-160

Hey guys...
I know I could research this, but I'm way shy of time.

Doing a R&R transmission job with a friend. M46 in a '84 240. Wanting to do the clutch too, as it was abused in the 240's final limp to the shop (4th gear only)

I have an input shaft from a M41. Would that input shaft work as a clutch alignment tool in the M46? (length to pilot, clutch splines compatible)

I expect if the clutch is the same type, it'd work. But I don't know if it is.

Thanks, and sorry for my lack of research.

Off to errands now.
