1980 242 Main Pump Banjo Fitting Removal 200

I purchased the new banjo fitting for my bosch fuel pump from ebay. I read the year specs after I purchased it, it says it is for 1983-1990 240's, I hope it works. Anyway, I removed the rubber hose from around the actual hose that the banjo fitting is in. My question is this, how do I remove the banjo fitting from this hose? My hose is like the return line to the in-tank pump, some kind of poly material that is installed with a heat process or something. How do I remove the banjo bolt from it? On the return line to the in-tank I cut the line right at the fitting and simply went back over it with a 5/8 fuel line and hose clamps. Is that what I do for the banjo fitting? I am confused on this, someone please help. The ebay site I bought the fitting from suggests cutting the line and installing the new fitting. One problem, wont that make the hose too short to reach the check valve on the pump? Please help. I really do not want to have to purchase the entire setup from sweedishautoparts.com, they list the banjo fitting and hose at $54.00!

Thanks,
