Volvo paint code 173-2

My 242 had a paint code of 173-2. My grandfather before he passed said its only one of 50 in that shade. I guess one per state. Im not sure if its true badded on lack of info on paint code production on the web. I did see under a rare paint listing for volvo its on there. Thats as far as ive gotten so far. Any one know of or have info on production? Volvo usa doesnt have info that far back, waiting froma email back from the volvo museum in sweden.
