Just an Oil Filter curiosity question (Mann versus Volvo) 200

Today I changed the oil in my newly acquired '88 240 and went back with the Mobil 1 stuff because she is used to it. I got a lot of the PO notes on maintenance and saw he used the dealer -- a lot. Now, I use the Mann filter from FCP, but noticed that the filter that came off was branded Volvo but looked basically like a MANN filter.

My curiosity is, does all the filters from the dealer carry their brand name on it still, or is this filter really old? Also, are they not the same filters from the same manufacturer, same quality, just labeled differently?

Thanks guys;

randyB
