1987 Volvo 245 GL: Red Dashboard Lights Out

Recently, my dashboard red warning lights on my '87 Volvo remained on while driving. When I revved the engine they dimmed and went out. I fully cleaned the battery terminals and checked all fuses. The problem went away... Today, the car suddenly would not start and only the red dashboard oil light came on. I jump-started the car and it ran for about 10 miles. The battery (relatively new) appeared drained. Could this be a a sign of a bad alternator? Bad voltage regulator? If is was the latter, I would have thought that the red alternator warning light only, would have been lit on the dashboard... Can anyone kindly lend assistance?

Mant thanks in advance!
