1992 740 turbo wagon rear tow eye 700

What are solutions that have been found to solve the problem the rear plastic tow (or extraction) eye for pulling a car out of the snow or a ditch?

Two years ago a friend tried to gently pull my car out of about one foot of snow, slightly downhill, and the tow eye pulled apart. Very little metal, like a tin can, but not ferrous. (Tried a magnet on a used replacement and found no attraction at all).

When this was purchased, used, the eye was torn out. I replaced it with a used one thinking that surely Volvo would not put such a shoddy extraction eye on their products. I was wrong. My wife's '86 745 has the same eye.

Please tell me what some of you have done in the way of improvement.
(Short of welding a loop under the body as with some later models!)

Thank you - I know someone - or a lot of you have solved this.
