Clutch cable weirdness 200 1989

So the clutch cable is proving to be a bit difficult. The adjustment nuts on both sides that look/feel kind of plasticy are chewed up and I'm not sure if they are holding their proper adjusted spacing. Also the boot that goes over the clutch fork is messed up, possibly preventing the clutch from releasing properly? Just a thought. May or may not be the case.
