4 simple things to check 200 1989

there are many many things upstream of the coil that will cause no spark condition.

Fuel system relay
bad crank position sensor
bad or corroded 25A blade fuse
bad fuse (fuse panel)


First things first. at minimum spin all of your fuses in their holders and obviously check for a bad fuse. These should be cleaned and/or replaced once per year.

Find the Fuel system relay, drivers left knee I believe. Wihte box as big as two match books. Do a brickboard search on inspecting and fixing it yourself.

Find the 25 A blade style fuse on the drivers fender, check and clean.

Carfeully inspect crank position sensor wiring.

check all connectors in the vicinity of where you were working.

All of these things are just good maintenance even if it doesnt solve the problem.

Like goatman said, these coils dont typically go bad. Dont throw parts at it. You'll just get frustrated. If the car just stopped working like you say, the fix is most likely going to be free.
