manual window gear finally gave out - swap w/ rear? 200 1983

Gear of driver's window was slipping and crunching at the top (took the door panel off and the teeth are definitely worn down), so I started not rolling it all the way up. Today, something slipped off completely when it was down, and the window won't roll up at all.

Thought I would swap the right rear (which I almost never use) window gear if they are the same, or is it impossible to replace just the gear, or - ??? before I start tearing everything apart, thought somebody might know...
