Some of the Brickboarders will remember "VOLVOWERKS" from San Jose, Ca. who offered a very good deal restoring a Volvo in 2004. I am one of the victims, and the "owner" (Jesse Vincent Lauricella) was convicted of some 70 felonies in 2007. Today I received a restitution check in the amount of $22.31,which comes to a total of $66.00 per year since his conviction. I called the D.A. office to speak my feelings, and recieved sympathitic responses, but not much help.
The surprising thing was that of almost 20 victims, I am the only one who has contacted them (including his parole officer). One person even advised me to remember "this is California".
If anyone else needs to contact them, I can furnish a couple of phone numbers.
Volvowerks even sent me pictures, ID numbers, color charts, and a lot of other things that were very convincing. This is just a reminder to everyone about the old addage that "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is".
