Was the 123GT sold to customers in the USA by Volvo or Volvo dealers, or were the 123GTs in the USA imported by the customers themselves? I just read this statement on Geroge Minassian's 123GT and it got me curious:

"According to the Volvo Publication 'Service Hints' printed in 1968 by Volvo, Inc. New Jersey, the 123GT was not imported to the USA but that some cars were imported by private individuals. Also, there are quite a few Canadian GTs that, over the years, have crossed the border to the USA."

Does anyone here have more information on this?
