Caliper Rebuilding 900

Just soliciting opinions on Rebuilding Calipers. I did my first, yesterday, and although it was messy and required a bit of study before I figured out how the piston boot snapped into the proper grooves, it was not particularly demanding.

If course with FCP Groton selling a fully loaded replacement for approx. $60 less Brickboard 10% discount, its not an automatic decision. $15 for the rebuilding kit.

All I usually need is the piston boot. Usually, the boots on the sliding rods are salvageable. Seems like a waste of money to pay for a caliper when sometimes the only problem is the rod is frozen in the sliding bracket. And with Pep boys, I had to free that and reuse the bracket anyway ($46. no pads).

I'm sure many of you have tossed this one around. Opnions?

It may be os some relevant that I have a well appointed, well lighted workroom and I have time.
