You may be using the wrong timing system 700 1990

I think everything should correspond well enough, my only worry was the '89 distributor. Here's a list of what I have: '90 ecu, '90 CPS viewing the '90 flexplate, '90 intake and fuel injectors, '90 MAF, '89 b230ft, basically just the motor itself, the head the block and all pulleys, most other little details were changed back to the '90, '90 turbo, was attached to the engine and thought it would be easier to leave on since my old one was shot, the only issue I had with installation was a sensor from the big hose coming from the airbox however it wasn't MAF. I used the hose from the '90 cause it had a hole to plug this sensor in. The distributor is the '89 with the hall effect sensor in it. This is unplugged now because the '90 ecu is only calling for the flexplate CPS. The engine runs well and sounds pretty good. The only issue is with the turbo getting flaming hot and mystically producing smoke above it. Does this indicate anything?
