You may be using the wrong timing system 700 1990

Thanks so much for the help. This is a positive post to receive because it was boggling my mind a bit that this turbo could have gone bad while sitting for two weeks. There are plenty of ways it could be hooked up wrong and I think I need to start from square one. I won't have the chance to get out there and do it until the beginning of next week but I'll be sure to post back. Also a question; would the OBD show codes for the turbo in this case? Also do you know if anyone makes a decent repair manual for this model? I lived by the manuals in VW repair but Haynes doesn't make one for this car and Chilton encompasses like 20 vehicles. Thanks again.
