There are a number of possible locations in the system where a leak could be causing loss of residual pressure. There is a check valve on the output side of the main fuel pump. This pump is located on a plate suspended by rubber bushings under the rear driver's side seat. The pump is the part that has the wires coming out of it. Next to the pump is the fuel accumulator. The fuel accumulator can be easily checked. It has two large hoses coming off of one end of it and a smaller hose coming off of the other end of it. If you pull the small hose (it goes back to the tank) off and gas comes out, the accumulator is leaking.
An injector could also be leaking. The four injectors are held into holes on the top of the cylinder head on the driver's side of the engine. By removing one bolt and pulling, the injectors can be easily removed. You don't need to remove the fuel line to the injector to pull it out to examine it. If you pull the injectors shortly after running the car, you can place each in a container and determine if any of them are leaking. After the engine has stopped, no fuel should come out of any of the injectors.
The accumulator and injectors are the two easy things to check that I can think of.
