Wow i never thought i would see another volvo with rust in the floor.I have just finished pulling the interior out of my 88 wagon to see if its repairable, and im in two minds as to what i will do.It looks like mine was caused by the underfloor vent condensation being trapped by the edge of the floor carpet resulting in a 1" wide rust hole a foot long.It also travelled along the sill and into the front corner of the footwell. Its a 5speed manual and has been a great car, getting much better mileage than my 84 4spd auto wagon.I think its time for a cuppa and some deep thought. cheers from paul in brisbane queensland Australia
