hard to start when engine is cold 140-160 1968

I've converted to electronic ignition. Used Bosch unit off of a 75 240 (from what i've been told it works well). I did have the timing checked not to long ago and it was set to what appeared to be 10 degrees BTDC at idle. I figure what we should have checked is the advance on the timing, so that will be done next. I was going to get the rubber o-rings for the cold start mechanism and try to see if this makes a difference for the gas mileage. I figure this is the cheapest thing to do at this point. If everything else checks out and I still get under 200 miles to a tank i guess i'll buy the metering needles and jets for the carbs, and try to install them myself.
