I'm not even certain what the name of this item is It's purpose is to prevent cargo from crashing into the passengers in the event of an accident. It swings 90 degrees from a flat to headliner position to a vertical position at top of rear seat. you could say it would contain your dog from unwelcome visits into the passenger area kids as well. I had one in my '85 wagon 740
I want one for my '91 wagon I just purchased in Dubuque, Iowa. I've a dog issue
