1993 940 sedan, Regina, no codes.
When the car is in P or N, idle is about 750, AC on or off.
When in R, it dips to just above 500. When in D, it settles slightly below 500, shaking the car.
The idle is steady, but just running so very low, and sometimes stalls if I am forced to brake hard while the RPMs are fairly low (such as someone crossing over lanes in front of me to get into a turn lane while I am comfortably slowing down at a red light).
When starting the car, over half the time, the check engine (service) light comes on, and stays on for a few minutes, but there are no codes.
The idle screw is set correctly, the TPS clicks and reads fine, and the AIC appears to be working. If the AIC fails gradually, I'm not sure how that could be tested.
If either IAC hose is disconnected, or if the flame trap to oil separator hose is disconnected, starting RPMs keep going up. I do not know if it settles, because I do not have the courage to let it go much past 4kRPM.
When the brake pedal is pushed about halfway, a constant hiss can be heard, and the brakes do not get any stronger until being pushed practically to the floor (vacuum leak?).
Acceleration is typically impossible when going uphill, but not always (vacuum leak?).
By the spray a joint method, I cannot find any vacuum leaks in obvious places, like the intake hoses, throttle body, intake manifold, and brake booster. I've replaced many of the hoses, as well.
Any ideas on where and/or how to look? Or, is this possibly not vacuum? All signs have been pointing to a vacuum leak since just after I got the car, but the idle problem has been much worse, lately.
