740 regina rex distributor cap 700 1991

Question: Does a regina rex distributor cap for a 740 8 valve have a center pin?

I feel like I am caught in the Twilight Zone. I have a 740 regina rex that has been failing to start/running rough intermittently, now it has failed all together.

My trusted independent mechanic replace the distributor cap and wires but it didn't help. Finally he gave up, advised that the local Volvo dealership had a senior mechanic that had more experience with regina rex. They called back and said "the rotor cap doesn't have a center pin." I checked with a local parts house, they said that the rotor cap for the regina rex doesn't have a center pin.

I mentioned that to the service people, they disagreed.

Who's right?
