Gas Tank Compatibility on 91 240 wagon 200 1991

I have a 91 wagon whose fuel tank is a bit on the leaky side; the fuel sending unit also fails to send a signal to the fuel gauge.

Luckily, I have a friend with a (parts car) 1987 240 sedan who has offered to let me pull the tank and sender unit from his car.

I'm hoping to drop the tank and sending unit off of my wagon, and put in the tank/sending unit from the sedan. But I am unsure--would the tank from the 87 sedan be compatible? How bout the sending unit?

I appreciate any advice on the subject.
