v90 vs. v70

Looking to buy a 1998 volvo for my son to take to school. I have owned several newer models but want something that doesn't have strange electronic issues that only the dealer can solve (and only maybe then). 1998 seems to be the last good year for that reason. There are several s70s, a v70 and one v90 for sale here in my price range. Which do you guys think is the best bet?
