Clunking from right strut mount? Best part sourse and manufacturer? 200 1991

The noise is definitely coming from the right strut and is getting louder every day. Ruled out everything else. By shaking the spring I notice a very slight bit of play. When I hit the spring just with my hand I can produce a slight rattle in the strut.
I replaced the struts with Sachs non gas struts less than 2 years ago. I would just hate to replace that mount and find out its a defective shock.
Also, what happens if and when these mounts break and what kind of damage might result?
And finally, I heard Scantec parts are mostly junk. Are there any decent aftermarket manufacturers out there? Where? and whats a good price to pay for them?
