Power window regulator

My 93 940 turbo drivers side power window is stuck in the "open" position. Switch works fine. Motor works fine, but when I attempt to close the window, I get quite a racket; sounds like gears slipping and chattering. I took the door panel off, lubed everything and tried to adjust the regulator mounting bolts. No change. Same racket. I can close the window by hand by "helping" the motor and regulator lift the window.

FCP Goton has a regulator for 129 bucks. Does this sound like a regulator replacement job, or a motor job?
