Don't know what happened to my gear shifter 200 1983

Hello 240 people, hope all are doing well this
fourth of July weekend.

While driving yesterday I realized that my automatic
shifter button was sitting higher than usual. I thought
that it had just popped free from its holder.
Upon further inspection I realized that the rod that
it attaches to was still attached to it and that the
rod had come loose from its lower attached end.

I did not pull it up any further for fear of causing
something bad to occur.

Any idea how this rod inside the sifter sleeve attaches back to where it is
supposed to be attached too....at the lower end near the tranny?

Thanks in advance and Happy Fourth of July,

Joseph in "On Fire New Mexico"
