Blower motor 200 1990

I have 1990 240 DL and I love this car.. I can see why people call these cars Swedish Bricks ! I need some advise on how to fix the blower motor inside my cabin. It stopped working 2 days ago and I have no AC ! It started making funny noise last year and now it just went dead. I checked the fuse and its fine. The Volvo mechanic that works on her is out on vacation and not sure when he will return. So I have some experiance on some things, but I dont want to buy a new blower motor or switch if thats not the problem. So does anyone out there have any kinda of knowledge on were to start. Thanks
