Slop in Linkage 200

Good Afternoon Group,
I replaced the transmission mount yesterday on my 82 GLT Automatic. The mount was trashed and the fix did a lot of good towards removing a lot of vibrations
under the shifter. While I was under the car I did a bit of clean-up on the shifter linkage and bushings. I did find that the linkage at the bottom of the shifter did seem very loose and would like to ask how loose the rivited section
(link to picture below) should be ??? Should it be set solid or should there be a bit of free play in the rivit??

Thanks for the help,

John I.
