AC Clutch Fan Question 200

When I pull the 12V wire to my 1990 245 and measure the resistance I get 3.8 ohms. When I do the same thing to my 1990 760 T I get .2 ohms (from the wire to the neg. battery terminal or the compressor case) and it will blow fuse immediately. It doesn't blow it when it's unconnected. I checked closely and the wire is not shorted.

The compressor is 12 years old and about 160,000 miles since it was replaced.

Does this mean my clutch is bad on the 760? A good candidate for a new compressor/clutch?

Thanks,
Hawk
