Thermostat housing 120-130

I have new thermostat with rubber ring to install on '66 B18:

Does thermostat housing (marked 418325) mount to head using a gasket or sealant or just metal to metal with split rubber ring gasket on thermostat?

Does the dangle on the thermostat go towards front or rear?

Why do B18 thermostat housings seem to have 1/4" hole wearing/corroding or worn through, from outside to in, on right (pass) side, just at/above hose clamp area? I have 4, all worn.

Can B20 thermostat housing (marked 419333) be used with 1966 radiator?
It has 1" ID as opposed to 13/16" ID (requiring larger radiator hose)
