low voltage output/high voltage consumption with a/c, lights 700 1991

This is a constant concern. I have replaced the battery and the voltage regulator with new brushes. I get 14v at the battery with no other consumption via stereo, a/c, lighting. A/C takes one volt, and lighting use with stereo has 13v consistently. Never more than 14v while running. After a sunday drive using a/c, lights, stereo, the dash voltage indicator is on the left side of center, park for a quarter hour, then no start! all dash lights come on, but no starter action. Will start right up with a jump start. this is the only real problem with the car. I removed the original alpine stereo amplifiers and stereo as it had developed a constant battery drain, but that has not been a problem for over 8 years since I removed that drain. A bit unnerving as my wife uses this as her daily commuter, and works late quite often. This is a Bertone Coupe model - great fun to drive and very reliable otherwise.
Any other experiences similar? Suggestions?
thanks in advance.
