Again temp Gauge 200

Okay I pulled the cluster and took out the compensation board. Added a wire jumper to one and three terminals. Put it back in the car and hooked it up. When
I started the car it had been sitting for about two hours so it was not hot.

The gauge instantly ran up to just under the red by about an 1/8 of an inch.
Is this my true reading now?? I thought it was supposed to stay at the nine o-clock position. Confused....
