Why do M47 leak? 700

Hello!
My old 740 GL B230F 88 years model has developed some bad noise in the gear box, the M47. It has about 187 000 miles on it, I have driven 125 000 of it in my ownership. I have had a tuned cylinder head (531) almost all the time and I have driven the car randomly quite hard, up to 5000-6000 rev.I think it is a minority of car brands that would have hold this far with my kind of driving.

Last year the fifth gear begun to sound very bad and last months also third (mostly) and second and first have begun to sound ill. The fourth sound really good, luckily! I can drive on that mainly all over the place.

Well I have had the luck to find an M47 gearbox which has only 11180 miles on it, it looks brand new. The seller have had a 89 740 GL sitting since year 1990 because it was smashed at the roof but it has never been fixed and now he is selling the parts. Good for me!I got a real good price for it also.

Well when he shipped it to me he unscrewed the gear stick assembly, it sits with four bolts at the back of the gearbox. He shipped them apart with some other things I got.

Now to the strange thing with the leaking oil, I screwed the gear stick assembly quite tight to the gearbox to see how it looks like, there is no leak from the gaskets but when I turn the gear box almost upside down, at least very much to the right oil is coming out where the upper right bolt is going into the box. The bolt whole cant be real tight inside I guess. Of course the gear box will never be in that kind of angle, it will sits upright and nothing can pour (at least not much) through the bolt. I read in Haynes there is a ventilation hole in the gear house for the fifth gear but I can“t see it on any picture. Can it be some thing that has to do with that?

Maybe someone has some clue to this, I am grateful for any answers!

Mikael from Sweden
