240 AC Compressor 200

My Cars are a 91 and a 87 240. I think the compressor gave up on the 91 at 453,000 miles and the 87 had a a bad Condenser. My questions are about using a 93 240 compressor on the 91 since is had 134a in it. Is the compressor better or the entire system on the 93? Also is there a better model to use on the 87 if there are problems? right now R12 is planned for the 87 since i have some. thanks Greg
