Good morning, Art.

Very good point on the SRS and one I did not consider. Never having owned a 240 that is so equipped it just didn't enter my mind. Always in the background, though, is the notion that someone will append my thoughts. And you have. So thanks.

How about a quarter turn or an eighth turn? The tie rods I've dealt with have had only two flats, though. Still, whatever fraction of a turn shouldn't be too hard to determine.

Bruce's warning gave me pause when I read it here, recently. I have actually never observed this rule. That is to say, I just didn't know to check after adjusting. But the times I have done this, and the total only amounts to the four 240's I have owned, have been after tie rod or rack replacement. So I have had a definite idea of how many threads were captured and, hence, how much "room to move", for lack of a better phrase, was available. Seems to me like you can deviate somewhat from this specification. The steering wheel position should be corrected well before safety becomes a concern.
