'89 244: suddenly...cranks good; no start. No codes. 200

Wife's 1989 244, B230 has 180K miles; good maintenance. Has been running very well. Went to start it yesterday...cranks great, no sign whatsoever of it wanting to fire. Had wife crank engine, I watched through oil filler fill and cam is revolving, so no premature timing belt failure...apparently. (11K miles left until belt is due)

Rolled fuses. Same. Check codes coming from little box under left hood hinge...got 1-1-1, which, I recall, is, "no codes," normal operation.

My Bentley book is on loan; guess I better get it back.

If this was an old Chev I'd pull a plug and lay it on the block, crank engine and watch for spark. Next I'd pull a line to carb and see if it squirts gas. Not sure how to proceed here.

Tips?

Thanks,
Dennis
