bounce on alternator belt 900

hi all
my trusty 940 diesel auto 1995 12 years in my ownership has a problem.
the alternator belt which also drives the fan .when at idle speed the belt has a severe bounce on the long run back down to the bottem pully.i have swopped the alternator but still the same the bounce eases when i increase the revs .
now the other only belt the power steering which also runs of the bottem pully
has no bounce so no problem .
the bounce on the fan/alterntor belt reduces the life of this belt causeing cracking then the teeth come off and it has to be replaced . well before the power steering belt . i have no air con.
i have looked closely but can not detect any thing that might cause this .
i have freinds with the same engine and there cars do not suffer this .
so may be one of you trusty people can help.with addvice
