HVAC duct insulation blowing out 900 1994

Wife's 945T is blowing bits of black insulation type material from it's air vents. Tolerable except that most of it has some tar-like adhesive and this stuff sticks to everything and has ruined some nice clothes.

I figure it's insulation or some weatherstripping used to seal the plastic ductwork behind the dash. I'm not interested in gutting the dash to remove all the ducting and clean it so is there anything else that can be done?

Or, is there a particular component, like maybe the blower, that is shedding this stuff that I can go after and clean or replace?

Thanks,

Erwin
