You say you've 'been adjusting to .018', but you did not confirm that you checked them again immediately before or after your compression test.

So, if you didn't, that's the place to start.

if you have a hole at 50, I'd be surprised to hear that it hits on all four at anything under about 2000rpm. If it idles on all four, I'd be suspect of the compression gauge and/or test itself, but it sounds like you got that in order...
