Thanks for all the input. You will not believe what it was.
The connection for the aux fan ..right in front of battery. While putting the battery back in (at the start) this very tight spot ..I UN-plugged the plug I had just plugged up. The fan would work SOME ..apparently reading engine temp through the ECU ..thus appearing that it was working ...but not as it should.
Since I do not recall getting a straight answer on this ..(maybe just missed) it might be good for some to know ..
1.The aux fan runs 100% of the time when the compressor is engaged, and will run for just a spell after engine shutdown.
{this is all controlled by the head pressure of the compressor itself..taking a moment for the fan to come on (as the pressure builds), and a short period for the fan to stop at engine shut down (as the pressure goes down)}.
2. A high side connector is not needed, as the new freon filler/vac units in most shops will pull it all down to 0 and then put back in the specific amount. A high side port would be good for someone using gauges to fill it right to the top using the high side gauge as a guide ..probably the best way, but only for those who actually know what they are doing. Even then, no guarantees this way. the prior compressor (w/ a HS port) that was on this car was ruined by a tech using gauges. He put TOO much freon in. It cooled great for a few months ..but the pressure apparently was too much ..thus causing compressor failure.
